Some Advices for your trip by plane
Airplane is considered to be the best transport, but a delay or lost of luggage may happen. What should you do?
• What is the e-ticket?
Touristic agencies and airlines have an obligation to issue ticket electronically only (electronic tickets or e-tickets). Tickets printed from the e-mail must be presented to the company during the registration. Certain companies continue to issue paper tickets but this becomes very rare.
• What is the "low cost" company?
It is an airline with low prices offering a short or medium distance flights for lower prices comparing to regular airlines. For so called “low-cost” flights there exists only one class of booking. The low-cost companies often use the secondary terminals and/or airports. The on-board services are reduced to minimum and are usually proposed as optional and on charge of a passenger. The price of the flight does not include a meal tray or snack. The seats can’t be allocated in advance.
• When should I come to the airport?
The time of a departure of flight indicated in your ticket is not that when you should pass a registration. The transporter can refuse you if you are late. The time of registration written by a transporter means the deadline when the passengers should register. So if they don’t mention the contrary, passengers should register for international flights two hours before the time of getting on board. It’s up to you to check the deadline of registration, after which no passengers are accepted.
• What can I take in my luggage?
We remind you that it is prohibited to carry articles, mentioned in the international regulations by IATA on hazardous materials and items including explosives, flammable, corrosive, oxidising, irritating, toxic or radioactive materials, compressed gases and objects unauthorised by the visited country. Please check with the airline which you plan to travel with to learn its policy of unauthorised items in luggage and in any case read the terms of the transport mentioned in the ticket.
- in the cabin: each company has its own politics. Usually it is not permitted to have more than one luggage for one passenger; sizes vary for each company. The maximum weight and dimensions may be changed according to the type of a plane. In any case, the luggage is under responsibility of a voyager during the flight.
- in the luggage section: each company has its own politics, especially the low-cost one. They usually authorise 15 kg per passenger for charters and low-cost flights and 20 kg per passenger for regular flights (economy class). In case of surplus, if authorised, the passenger must pay a supplement to the airline at the airport. If a piece is missing or lost at the arrival (departure and / or return), the passenger should immediately notify in writing the company.
• What if I miss my correspondence?
You’ve bought a ticket for Simferopol with the same airline (or just a board-to-board ticket) but the delay of your first flight made you miss the second. In this case the airline must replace it with another one. If it is up to unpredictable reasons such as political crisis in the country, weather, safety etc. than the airline is not obliged to replace your flight but they often do this for a simple demand.
• Can I buy two tickets separately?
Yes but be careful: if you bought two tickets separately, and the delay of your original flight causes the miss of your connection, in most cases your ticket is "lost". Please mind that the time between two flights will be enough. In case of not coming to the departure (no-show), please contact the airline immediately. The airline has the right to cancel also a return ticket.
• What if it takes a longtime to wait at the customs?
The companies are not responsible for the time you have to spend at the customs. When you arrive to Kiev – don’t lose time and go straight to the passport control. It’s good to have a pen to fill the so-called migration card (if they didn’t offer you one for your flight).
